Choosing the right SEO company

Saturday, February 19th, 2011

There is no doubt that over the past few years internet marketing and SEO has become more and more popular, if you don’t have an internet marketing strategy you could be losing sales right now. If your competitior is spending money on an effective SEO strategy then you need to be as well, even if they are not you still want to be ahead in the game.

One of the largest problem I find is that there are so many SEO agencies out there who don’t have the ability to deliver an effective product, you will no doubt have heard or received an email claiming that a SEO company can guarantee to put your website in the #1 position for any keyword. Sadly though unless the keyword is not very popular at all the chances for this claim are minimal and if you were competiting for a high popularity keywords such as one word then this could end up costing you a fortune in promoting your website.

There are a few things to think about why claims like this are unlikely to materialise:

  • How can everyone be at the top for the same keyword?
  • Guaranteed rankings in google or other search engines are out of their control
  • How can there be a fixed cost for a certain ranking?
  • How long would my site appear at a certain position?

My conclusion is that people need to be aware that if you are looking for an effective way to get your website ranked then there is no quick fix at all, yes in the short term a quick fix might get you a few visitors but if anything you need to be focusing on a long term internet marketing strategy if you want your website to succeed in increasing visitors to your website.

The biggest problem I find is that many website design companies do not have that much experience when it comes to search engine optimisation and believe that a quick website optimisation and a monthly reporting of statistics will be an effective strategy without any real marketing of the website. Imagine a scenario where Customer A has had a website built and is targeting a niche area where his website has been nicely designed and ranks in the top 5 in google without any sort of marketing, yes he has everything he wants now but 6 months down the line Customer B comes along with just a basic similar website but with a little extra. He has has a small marketing campaign where his website is promoted on a small scale and advertised on a small budget per month, not only would Customer B in the long term generate new visitors from his internet marketing efforts but no doubt that his rankings would supersede that of Customer A and bring even more exposure to his website!

Don’t let yourself fall into the realms of Customer A and take your website marketing strategy into your own hands!

Targeting Keyword

Monday, January 17th, 2011

As well as the quality of the links another important area is to look at what keywords are being targeted, for example a keyword that has 10 searches a week has a less potential to return results compared to a keyword that has 500 searches a week. Even though the keywords that have less searches may mean that there is less competition it can be a good idea to target a more competitive keyword as the primary goal and aim for the less competitive keywords as a secondary goal.

Friday, January 14th, 2011

If you have even slightly delved into off site internet marketing then you will no doubt have heard about link building and how important links to your website can be, there are a number of factors which can determine the value of a link that is pointing to your website some of the most important are:

  • Relevancy of website to your website
  • Popularity of the webpage that the link is coming from
  • The amount of outgoing links from the same page
  • The content within the website that the link is coming from

Pay per click advertising

Thursday, January 6th, 2011

One of the quickest and easiest options to start your internet marketing plan off to a flying start is through the use of PPC marketing, pay per click marketing has been very popular for year with it becoming more and more competitive every day with more and more people understanding the potential that it has to offer. The problem that a lot of clients face is that they solely rely on PPC to bring in their sales and business which in its own right is fine but due to the nature of the PPC startegy a competitior with a large advertising budger could literally knock your placement down over night leaving you with a hefty increase in your advertising budger or being listed on the 2nd page of adverts. For this reason pay per click advertising should be used as part of your internet marketing plan but using it as a be and end all could potentially cause trouble in the long term. That said pay per click advertising will complement any existing internet marketing strategy and with good conversion tracking software you will have a very good idea to the effectiveness of your campaigns.

What we are able to offer as a service is pay per click management, we can manage your account and target the most effective keywords at the pay per click prices and aim for the best ROI possible, please get in contact to discuss options

Search Engine Optimisation

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

When you hear the words search engine optimisation SEO for most not technically skilled this can be a minefield and very confusing. The key sucess to any website is being able to be seen by potential customers and without these there is little hope for gaining new business. With the right search engine marketing strategy you can achieve your goals and get new potential customers visiting your website. The first area to look at is your website and what can be done to help optimise it to be the best it can be to attract potential cusotomers this is known as on page optimisation, the second key area to look at is off page marketing where your website would be promoted on other potential websites such as directories and related websites. Another key area that has been proving popular over the past few years is social media marketing which is a different area entirely.

PPC vs Natural Search Rankings

Friday, September 17th, 2010

When it comes to marketing your websites for potential visitors you have a variety of routes that you can choose, two of the most popular being PPC and Natural Search Rankings. With PPC your adverts appear almost instantly but with the natural search rankings it can take months if not years to appear for the keywords of your choice. The key benefits to natural search rankings is there is no direct cost once you have been established for your keywords and with PPC it is always an ongoing cost. In the long term natural search rankings will be better however in the terms of spending money on marketing your site it may turn out that PPC ends up costing you the same.

Bearing the two factors in mind cost and time I have come to the conclusion that investing in both is defiantely a good idea giving you the best of both worlds!

What is the future of the internet?

Friday, February 12th, 2010

With the Internet becoming more and more popular every single day, the Internet is becoming one of the most popular subjects for most people whether this would be talking about YouTube or the usual social networking sites.

For years we have had limited choice to where we can purchase items from and the retail stores in the high street where the only option for many people, but now with the power of the internet you can purchase the same products from an online store. With less overheads online businesses are able to offer more competitive prices which in the long run means that more customers are likely to purchase online as opposed to retail shopping, however I think to an extent retails shopping will always be a popular choice.
